WAICENT Focal Point in the Czech Republic
WAICENT Focal Point in the Czech Republic was established at the Institute of Agricultural and Food Information in Prague (IAFI).
IAFI has a long tradition of co-operation with Food and Agricultural Organization of United Nations. It started in 70ies, when Institute joined new initiative aiming to build a common information system for science and technology in agriculture and related subjects, based on a collaborative network of institutions joined the international information system for the agricultural sciences and technology.
1975 - IAFI established National AGRIS Input Centre
1993 - Institute becomed FAO Depository Library
1995 - National Input Centre extended activities by CARIS input
1997 - FAO Multilingual thesaurus AGROVOC was translated to the Czech language
1998 - IAFI becomed member of Agroweb CEE Network and maintains Agroweb Czech website
2000 - took over maintenance of website of the Czech National Committe for Cooperation with FAO
2003 - Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic entrusted Institute to serve as WAICENT Focal Point in the CR
