FAO Forestry Department organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of
the Czech Republic and the Forest of the Czech Republic- State Entereprise from 21 to 26 March
2004 a Forestry Policy Workshop on Trends in Forest Use and Conservation.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss current and emerging issues facing the development of the forestry sector and identify policy options for action. This will be achieved by reviewing major trends in forest use and conservation in Central Europe, discussing the need for cross-sectoral policy coordination, promoting the use of the integrated system of environmental and economic accounting for integrating forest benefits into the national economy, and reporting on successful country experience in financing non productive functions of forests.
Sub-Regional Workshop on the World Census of Agriculture 2000
Prague, Czech Republic, 23-29 June 2001
The objectives of the Workshop were: (i) to make aware participating countries of the
importance of conducting agricultural censuses and sample surveys; (ii) to have lectures
and discussions on the organization and implementation of national agricultural censuses
and surveys; and (iii) to encourage countries to adopt the guidelines included in the FAO
Programme for the World Census of Agriculture 2000.
A total of twenty-one invitees of which five representatives from Kazakhstan, and 16
representatives from the following countries (2 from each country): Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Georgia, Kyrgystan (Kyrgyz Republic), Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan;
seven lecturers, and special invitees from the Czech Republic.
